Founded in 1884, Mackay Communications originally operated a network of telegraph cables. By the 1940s, Mackay had been acquired by ITT Corporation and expanded into shipboard radio systems. Mackay became a private, family –owned business in 1987, specializing in the Sales and Service of shipboard communications and navigation equipment. Mackay is headquartered n Raleigh, NC, and has field offices in 13 major American port cities. Our 140 employees are committed to delivering the high quality electronic navigation, communication, below-decks, and satellite equipment, service and airtime to Commercial, Governmental and Offshore shipping and drilling companies. Our marine service department includes 60 field technicians skilled in installing and repairing marine electronic equipment. Most of this activity is conducted aboard the ship while in port, which often involves working independently under tight sailing schedules.
